The Flatshare | One of the Better Romances I’ve Read in a While
4/5 stars
Tiffy is in need of a cheap place to stay after being dumped by her ex. Leon works nights at the hospital and is looking to rent out his apartment for some extra cash. Tiffy gets the place from 6pm to 8am. Leon gets it during the day. The flatmates never have to meet, see each other, or interact. How messy could things get between two strangers sharing a bed?
I had seen a lot about The Flatshare and am really glad I finally picked it up. This was a cute romance that flowed well. I was a bit concerned about the pacing because a lot of the tension seemed to be resolved by the midpoint; however, there was solid character development and subplots that kept the story moving at a good pace.
This wasn’t the steamiest romance I’ve read and I was perfectly fine with that. I loved the growing relationship between Tiffy and Leon. I particularly enjoyed reading the notes they’d leave for each other around the apartment. It was a fun way to experience the passing of time and get inside their heads. O’Leary also brought in a deeper conversation about toxic relationships and mental health that I appreciated. I liked getting to see Tiffy process her past with the help of very supportive friends.
The Flatshare was a feel-good contemporary romance that flew by and left me wanting more.
