A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder
3.5/5 stars

Pip is taking an unconventional route for her senior capstone project… investigating the murder of Andie Bell. Andie was killed 5 years ago by her boyfriend, Sal. Did Sal really do it? Pip isn’t sure and she decides to dig deeper to see if the police missed anything. What was a school project could end up being a much more dangerous game.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder was really hyped up on social media and I can see why. It is a combination of straight narration, interrogation transcripts, and journal entries written by Pip as she investigates Andie’s murder. I enjoyed this format and think I would have gotten bored if it had been a straightforward narration. Instead, I could look at the same clues Pip was sorting through to try and figure out what happened.
For a YA thriller this is a solid choice. The material isn’t too adult and delves into the secretive lives of high schoolers. At times, I had a hard time believing the story. Pip was doing a lot as a high school senior and it felt unrealistic how much she was able to accomplish and get away with. However, this was a page-turner. If you can overlook some unbelievable moments, I think you’ll really enjoy this first book of the series and understand why it is raved about.
