MY ADOPTION STORY Pt. 70 | TRIGGERED by the term CRIB-MATE

Adoptees have a unique shared experience of grief, trauma, and pain that we endured in the first days, months, and years of our lives. That trauma and grief manifest throughout our life. We speak up, but are often met with invalidation and gaslighting. Crib-mate has been a term used to describe the shared adoptee experience. I 100% see a need for a term to describe this. Unfortunately, I am often triggered by crib-mate because I had actual crib-mates in an orphanage, and that orphanage was not a good place. In this video, I share some of my orphanage experience and why crib-mate triggers me.

My videos are filmed and scheduled to publish weeks in advance. While I had the energy to discuss these topics then, I may be in a different place now. I don’t want any adoptee to feel like I am ignoring their connections. I just have to take care of myself as well.
