Number One Chinese Restaurant
3/5 stars
This was a slow read for me. I was excited for representation and a look into the family dynamics of a Chinese American family running a restaurant. While the book delivered on that front, I didn’t really connect with any of the characters and wished they had been fleshed out a bit more. I think this could have been stronger if there were less characters and more character development. Overall, it was a good debut and I am interested in what Li writes in the future.
