A ski trip at a European chalet sounds like a dream, but what happens when the shareholders of a major company are stranded together after an avalanche? As the hours pass, each persons realizes how few people they can trust. As the hours pass, their numbers grow smaller. The question is, by the time help comes, how many people will be left?
Ruth Ware’s books have been either a hit or miss for me. This would make my “worked for me” list. It was an intriguing psychological thriller with a creative plot I hadn’t read before. I wasn’t able to predict the plot twist, which is always a plus for me. While I wouldn’t classify it as scary, it was definitely creepy reading about the characters locked in a chalet together with a murderer on the loose.
I did hope for the end to be a bit cleaner. I think I was lacking some character development or backstory to really tie everything up. Details I had assumed were important ended up a bit irrelevant. I was hoping for a few more clues that would have helped me understand the characters’ motivations better.
Overall, this was a good thriller that I read in just two days. It was a perfect book to get me in the mood for spooky season/Halloween and another one of Ware’s that I enjoyed.
