Catherine House | A Disturbing Dark Academia Debut
3.5/5 stars
For Ines, Catherine House was an escape. The school of higher learning graduated the world’s leaders, and somehow, Ines was going to be among them. It isn’t long before Ines realizes this isn’t a regular school. The rumors and whispers didn’t deter her from enrolling, but now she questions if there is a darker secret hidden within the walls.
This was my second dark academia debut I read this month, and overall it was an enjoyable read. It was definitely strange and I had no predictions about what was going on at Catherine House.
For a book that packs three school years into a little over 300 pages, not much happened in the plot. Instead, the pages were filled with the eerie aura of Catherine House and Ines’s attempts to uncover its secrets. Overall, it held my attention and was satisfyingly disturbing, but a bit too slow for me to fully enjoy.
