Decluttering and Accent Pieces | West Elm and CB2
I’ve been in a decluttering mood. For the last few months, all I could think about when I sat in my apartment was how much stuff I had managed to accumulate and how I didn’t use any of it.
Over the course of those few months I shipped off two full bags to ThredUp of clothes I no longer needed. Then last weekend, I decided it was time to declutter everything else.
I filled four large garbage bags with old school supplies, random junk, worn-out pillows, expired cosmetics, etc. It felt amazing. While I was getting rid of that stuff, I was also pulling together some accent pieces to begin tying the apartment together. Rather than a bunch of furniture from random places, I wanted some flow.
I headed to West Elm and CB2 to pick up some pieces and plan to get a few more to finish the decor. Instead of my shelves being filled with half-used notebooks and blankets with holes, they’ll be minimally decorated and add some elevated personality to the rooms.
Perhaps this is the beginning of my journey to minimalism. The only makeup I have is eyeliner and powder to fill in my brows. The only notebooks I have are in use or to be used soon. I’m working on the clothing. I’ve donated a lot, but I think I can do more.
Overall, I’m happy with this progress, and I’m excited to see if and when I finally feel like this apartment is complete.
