Creating My Cloffice
“What’s a cloffice?” you might ask. It’s a closet-office.
Cloffice.
That is my goal. Having an entire room to display my books, bags, and favorite fashion while also have a workspace for filming, editing, and getting lost in words. Unfortunately, when you live in a one-bedroom apartment, your options are limited. I don’t have an extra room to make into a cloffice. I barely have enough space to to put up a curtain and create a closed-off filming space.
One night, I was inspired to rearrange. Yes, this happens often and every book shelf in my unit has lived in at least two other locations. I decided to move my big bookshelf to the edge of my desk (built-in) and create a cutout.
I’m very happy with the results. I’ve added some accent pieces to my desk space that work with all of the decor throughout the apartment. I am working on decluttering (or rather, decolonizing) my bookshelf so the background isn’t so busy when I film.
Most importantly, I have that space that separates me from the rest of the apartment and lets me focus. I sort of had it before. Now, I know I really have it because I was able to sit there for two hours working on teaching stuff without realizing how much time had passed.
The gold mirror tray is one my favorites. My sister got it for me last year and it adds a perfect level of luxury and minimalism. It’s holding my writing notebooks and keeps my color scheme neutral.
The other accent pieces are neutral and gold as well. I have always gravitated to gold tones and I’m glad I’m finally trying to implement them into my apartment as well.
Bringing this space together has been fun and I was pleasantly surprised by the results because, like I said before, there is only so much you can do in a small space. Now, I’m always keeping my eye out for new accent pieces to add a bit more personality to my space.
